99 Weeks

The Democrats still want to pay people to not work. Heck some repugs agree with this.

WASHINGTON (AP) - House-Senate negotiations on extending jobless benefits and a two percentage point cut in the payroll tax remained stalled Thursday, despite a proposal in which Democrats urged a modest six-week cut in the maximum time unemployed workers can receive jobless benefits.
So this means 93 weeks of pay for not working vs. 99 weeks now. Let's hear the uproar from those who use/abuse this to their advantage.

Democrats, however, rejected efforts by House conservatives to require beneficiaries to enroll in GED classes or permit states to require drug tests as conditions of getting unemployment.

I have to agree with the Dems on this. It makes no sense to waste money on such things. It sounds good to demand people get the least amount of education they can, but it doesn't guarantee a job. And drug testing, although motivated by a good idea, is also a waste because again, it has nothing to do with jobs and it does not result in a job.  So don't waste tax payer money on these things. Pay down the deficit instead!
