So it's February in New Hampshire and one would think we have mounds of cold snow all over the place. Cool brisk days and bitter cold nights are normal for this time of year. Long slow drives on snowbound treacherous roads and lots of minor car accidents are typical during storms. And let's not forget- snowmobiles for some people are the preferred means of transportation this time of year. Ahh the joys of winter.
Or not.
We have NO SNOW right now. None. Not even an inch. It's been such a mild winter - not one major storm since Halloween night. This time last year we had 2-3 storms a week and literally PILES of snow everywhere. People wondered where it would all melt away too. Not this year. In some places, bulbs and flowers are already popping up thru soft ground. Today it's supposed to reach 50 degrees in my area. So much for Old Man Winter. Perhaps he'll return next year, with a vengeance.
Well, we got a LITTLE snow down here this past week... Not enough for a snow day, but it was very pretty while it lasted!
ReplyDeleteAnd I think it's supposed to get up to 70 tomorrow or Friday. *sigh*
We may hit 70 degrees today.
ReplyDeleteNo winter here in Northern Virginia -- except for a few conversational snowflakes.
Actually, I'm glad. The two past winters I had to shovel off that damn wheelchair ramp too often!
It has been very cold this weekend. At my house in Antrim NH it was 15 degrees this morning, with wind blowing. That, and my garden is starting to sprout as well with tulips and daffodil bulbs breaking through the cold dirt. We haven't had a chance to turn manure into the vegetable garden yet but will before 4/1. I think we will have somewhat of a drought this summer.
ReplyDeleteIt was BITTER cold today! What a difference just since the other day when it was 50 out! There's a forecast for SNOW this week too! YAY!
ReplyDeleteTomorrow the weather is going to get frightful. 8-10 inches of heavy snow on it's way.
